*Although we specialize in highly masked women and girls (a much less understood presentation of autism), we also specialize in neurodivergence in clients of all genders, ages, and abilities.
At NCAWAG, we believe in providing excellent clinical care. We always strive to use the latest evidence based diagnostic and treatment methods. However, we know there are major limitations in the applicability of current autism diagnostic methods on women and gender diverse individuals. We also know that traditional talk therapy can have limited effectiveness for autistic individuals. Our team of specialists engage in diagnostic and treatment services with flexibility, and individualized approaches rather than rigidly adhering to outdated standards and strict procedures.
NEW! Parenting a Child with PDA Group Starting October 2026
Tuesdays at 9 AM and Thursdays at 12:30 PM, 90 minute sessionsWe are pleased to announce an ongoing virtual group, led by Megan Bergeron, LMCHCA, CRC, designed for parents and caregivers of children with a PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance/Persistent Drive for Autonomy) profile. Together, we’ll explore what drives demand avoidance, how anxiety and the nervous system influence behavior, and how to support children while honoring their need for autonomy and connection. Topics may include low-demand approaches, communication and collaboration, meltdowns and regulation, everyday challenges, school, burnout, advocacy, and parent wellbeing. The group will combine education, practical strategies, and opportunities to connect with other parents who understand the unique challenges and strengths of raising a PDA child.
